The Region

Situated in Caldas de Aregos, Resende, on the south bank of the Douro River and an hour away from Porto, the Hotel has the backdrop of the mountainous terrain, marked by the course of the river and the slope of the Montemuromountains.

In Resende, gateway to the Douro wine region which was recently ranked Heritage site by Unesco, you can still find many traces of the ancient inhabitants of the region, a period dating back to prehistoric era. Megalithic monuments, beautiful churches, stately manor houses, bridges and mountain villages make Resendea living testimony of great archaeological, historical, social value. The nature, the spa of Caldas de Aregos, the crafts, folklore and gastronomy constitute the main arguments for a visit.

The municipality of Resende is one of the largest domestic producers of cherries and this is truly one of the most important sources of income of the population. You can expect friendly locals, people that still live off the land and what it offers, through hard work.

In May the Cherry Festival takes place, an exhibition that aims to bring visitors to the region, presenting them the precious fruit, not to mention the excitement of popular music, good food and fine wines from the Douro.
